Develop Morning Habits to Combat Stress

Do you know that practicing a good morning routine can save you from unnecessary stress and anxiety?

Mornings are a blessing, and we must take the maximum benefit from them. To do so, planning and setting up a good morning routine first is essential. However, this thought itself is stressful for many people. So why make it stressful and hard to practice? The most effective thing is to take approaches to make your mornings enjoyable, memorable, and stress-free for you.

First, think about several practical approaches that are easy to follow. Please don't make a morning routine that your friend or neighbor follows, but it is hard for you. This would add more self-inflicted stress when you fail to follow the routine properly. Always try to set a routine that motivates you.

Your morning routine should include the following habits to combat stress and promote wellbeing:

Drink water as the first thing after you wake up.

We all know that drinking water first thing in the morning offers many benefits to our health and body. Drinking water in the morning gives you a soothing feeling that will also calm your mind and reduce stress. It will flush out all the toxic compounds and negativity from your body while leaving you healthy and happy.

Go out for a little morning walk.
If you can't walk for miles in the morning, try to do a little walk for only a few minutes. Always try to step outside your home under an open sky and on the green grass. It helps give you dramatic energy, freshness, and a good feel for the whole day.

Don't waste your morning on your mobile phone.
The worst thing that many of us do is waste hours on our phones once we wake up. If you have been doing this, stop this habit beginning tomorrow. To do so, try to keep your mobile phone far away from your bed so that you won't pick it up and start using it unconsciously. Instead, set the morning alarm on an alarm clock and keep it near you instead of the phone.

Recall your blessings and be thankful.
Spend a few minutes thinking about the virtues of your life and be grateful for them. This process makes your content instead of complaining about life. When you start practicing gratitude, the stress will fade away from your life.

Meditate and exercise.
Meditation and exercise in the morning are the two proven and powerful ways to reduce or manage stress. Make these two your morning habits and manage a few minutes for them every day to reap the benefits.

Have a healthy breakfast
Among all of these points, it is the most important one. If you are not eating healthy and nutritious, everything else is useless. Therefore, try to have a healthy breakfast in the morning to boost your stamina and energy for the day. By doing so, you will notice that you are more energetic and happier daily and effectively manage your stress.

Read a newspaper or a good book.
Reading the newspaper or a few pages of a good book will give you the knowledge and positive vibes for the day. As a result, it will help reduce stress while making you feel confident and insightful.

Get dressed up for the day.
Every day, dress up beautifully in the morning to carry out your all-day responsibilities. When you dress up nicely, it gives you confidence in yourself and takes away the uninvited stress from your life.

Developing good morning habits and sticking to them is essential to relieving your stress. Without a proper morning routine, the rest of your day will be disorganized and cause tremendous stress. However, don't give up your morning routine if you fail to follow it some days. Life gets in the way sometimes but tries to get back to your routine as soon as possible. You will see a noticeable difference in your stress level and overall well-being.

When you're stressed out, the foods you're turning to will most likely be traditional 'comfort' foods – think big meals, take-out, fatty foods, sweet foods, and alcohol. Let's face it – we've all found some comfort in a tasty meal, a bottle of beer, or a glass of wine when we've been stressed out or upset about something. However, this isn't a good permanent solution.

When a person is stressed out, a stress-causing hormone called cortisol increases in the body. This hormone enters our immune system and reduces the number of lymphocytes and phagocytes. When the lymphocytes and phagocytes reduce in number, the invaders find their way to attack our immune system. High-stress levels weaken our immune system and make us prone to several diseases or health issues.
